The Chief Inspector of Police in Jaffna, Mr.Ranjith de Silva, Friday informed the Jaffna Magistrate, Mr.R.T.Viknarajah, that the police are on the trail of two more suspects who are moving around Puttalam and Mannar areas and who are said to be members of the paramilitary Eelam People’s Democratic Party, in connection with the murder of journalist Mylvaganam Nimalarajan, legal sources said

Already four suspects arrested in connection with the Nimalarajan murder have been released on bail, legal sources said.

The Chief Inspector met the Magistrate at the latter's chamber Friday and handed over the Government Analyst's report on the pistol supplied by the Sri Lanka Army to EPDP. The report stated that the bullets recovered from the scene of murder by the police were not fired from the pistol given by the SLA to EPDP.

Hence the Magistrate allowed the application of the Police to return the pistol to the SLA.

The pistol and other arms were returned by the EPDP to the Sri Lanka Army according to the conditions laid down in the ceasefire agreement signed by the government and the LTTE last year, legal sources said

However, the Magistrate ordered that another pistol recovered in connection with the Nimalarajan murder should be kept in police custody and other productions connected with the case should be in the custody of the Court's Registrar, legal sources said.
