Tamil villages without post boxes

Several Tamil villages in the Trincomalee district are not provided with post boxes. Villagers are forced to walk several miles to the nearby villages to post their letters, complained Tamil National Alliance parliamentarian Mr.K.Thurairetnasingham in a letter to the Posts and Media Minister Mr.Imtiaz Bakeer Markar.

According to Mr.Thurairatnesingham, in the Eachilampathu division eight villages, Muttuchenai, Verugal Muhathuwaram, Punnaiyadi, Ilankathurai Muhathuwaram, Ilankathurai, Karukamunai, Uppural and Cheenenveli have not been provided with post box facilities.

Villages, Ilakanthai, Pattalipuram and Santhosapuram in Muttur division, Amman Nagar, Sunkankuli and Upparu in Kinniya division and Kumburupiddy and Iranakerni in Kuchchaveli division have also been not provided with post boxes, Mr.Thurairatnesingham has pointed out.

Mr.Thurairatnesingham has brought to the notice of the minister that the people of these villages walk several miles to post their letters. More than fifteen thousand people live in these villagers.
