The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said Tuesday that it has arranged the transfer of the bodies of the Liberation Tigers killed in the fighting with the Sri Lanka Army in Jaffna on Sunday and Monday. The transfer is expected to take place at Neervely, northeast of Jaffna town, around 9.30 a.m. Wednesday.

The modalities for the transfer have been agreed upon with the SLA and the Liberation Tigers, ICRC press officer Harasha Gunawardena told TamilNet. Security guarantees for the transfer have also been secured from both parties Mr. Gunawardena added.

The ICRC will take the bodies from Neervely towards the Kaithady sector which is held by the Liberation Tigers.

LTTE sources said 60 Tigers were killed halting a multi-pronged SLA offensive launched Sunday. SLA sources said 150 Sri Lankan troops were killed and over a thousand wounded in the pitched battles.
