Foundation stone laid for Kaaththaankudi hospital

The foundation stone for the reconstruction project of district hospital in Kaaththaankudi, Batticaloa district, which was severely damaged during 2005 Tsunami, was laid Saturday jointly by Jegath Abeyasinghe, President of Sri Lanka Red Cross Society and Nimal Kumara, the secretary, sources in Batticaloa said.

The project costing 670 million rupees is being funded Norwegian red cross society.

The modernized hospital will include sections including special units for treating men, women, and children in addition to a surgical unit, Dr.U.L.Nazrudeen the director of the hospital said.
