SLN shells fishing settlements on Mullaiththeevu coast

More than 245 students taking examinations in Mullaiththeevu Maha Vithiyaalayam fled from the school when Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) started shelling the coast Monday around 11:30 a.m from Mullaitheevu seas, 250 meters from the school, school officials said. Members of fisher families working on the shore cleaning and drying fish scattered in fear seeking safety as SLN Dvora gun boats fired shells continually for 10 minutes.

SLN also launched indiscriminate shell fire on the Ka'l'lappaadu coast of Mullaiththeevu Sunday evening targeting fishermen and civilian settlements on the coast.

Though the shells fell and exploded on the shore no one was injured.

80 students taking examinations Friday noon narrowly escaped in A'lampil in Mullaiththeevu while a 12 year old girl among them was injured on her head, when SLAF dropped bombs 75 meters near the Roman Catholic School.
