Loose APC kills forty

At least forty Sri Lankan soldiers and sailors were killed when a Saracen armoured vehicle broke off its moorings on the cargo vessel 'Lanka Muditha' on Saturday said sources in Jaffna today. The report could not be confirmed independently from SLA sources.

SLA officials said earlier that two soldiers were killed in the incident. Six soldiers and two sailors were reported to be missing.

The sources close to the Navy in Jaffna said today that the armoured vehicle had run over several soldiers on the deck, killing them on the spot.

Meanwhile, reports from Jaffna said that a large stocks of military hardware are being moved to the Elephant Pass - Paranthan base complex. The armaments have been sent by sea to Jaffna said sources
