The government security establishment Friday informed the Jaffna Police that two soldiers one from the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) and the other from the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN)navy had died suddenly in their stations. Police teams from Manipay and Kayts Friday handed over the bodies of the two soldiers to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, Jaffna Police said.

The dead were identified as Mr.P.D.Tinna aged 26 of Manipay SLA camp and Mr.A.R.Veera Bandara aged 25 of naval base in Velanai, Jaffna Police said.

Jaffna Magistrate visited the hospital and held preliminary inquiries into the deaths of the soldiers.

He directed the Police to submit autopsy reports after holding post-mortem examination on the bodies in the Colombo General Hospital. The Magistrate allowed the police to take the bodies to Colombo immediately and handed them to their relatives after post-mortem examination, police said.

Hospital sources said injuries caused by pointed weapons were found in the body of naval soldier Mr.Veera Bandara.
